To disable protection of a virtual machine or VMware inventory object:

  1. Open the protected infrastructure in the policy that defines the protection settings for the relevant virtual machine or VMware inventory object.
  2. If you want to disable protection of one or multiple objects of the protected infrastructure:
    1. Select one or multiple objects of the protected infrastructure in the table.

To disable protection on multiple virtual machines that are child objects of a single VMware inventory object, select that VMware inventory object. You can select multiple objects of the protected infrastructure at the same time by holding down the CTRL key.

    2. Click the Assign protection profile button and select the Do not protect option in the opened window.
    3. If the selected VMware inventory object has child objects, by default protection will be disabled for the selected object and for all its child objects, including objects that have been assigned their own protection profile. If you want to disable protection only for the selected VMware inventory object and for those of its child objects that have not been assigned their own protection profile, clear the Apply to all child objects check box.

Protection will be removed from the parent object and from those of its child objects that inherited their protection profile from the parent object. The application will continue protecting the child objects that have been assigned their own protection profile.

    4. Click OK.

If objects have been excluded from protection, the value shown in the Protection profile column for them is (Not assigned).

  3. If you want to disable protection for all objects of the protected infrastructure configured for the policy, select the Disable protection check box.
  4. In the Properties: <Policy name> window, click OK.
