This section describes new features and enhancements in the latest version of Kaspersky Scan Engine.
What's new in version 2.1
- Multi-user mode for Kaspersky Scan Engine GUI is supported; Administrator and Operator user roles are available for Kaspersky Scan Engine GUI users.
- System audit functionality. With the system audit, it is much easier to monitor how Kaspersky Scan Engine functions and to analyze security incidents when they happen.
- Automatic upgrade to a newer version of Kaspersky Scan Engine by using the
install
utility. - Different modes for Kaspersky Scan Engine instances in a cluster. Kaspersky Scan Engine instances now can work in different modes at the same time: when some instances work in ICAP mode, others work in HTTP mode.
- Automatic removal of inactive cluster instances. If this function is enabled, Kaspersky Scan Engine automatically removes from the cluster those instances that are inactive for a specified period of time.
- API token authentication. If this function is enabled, Kaspersky Scan Engine provides access to its functions only to those HTTP clients that have successfully authenticated by using the API token.
- Separate KAV SDK objects. Starting from Kaspersky Scan Engine version 2.1, KAV SDK objects are delivered as a separate package.

- Custom response header field that contains information about the anti-virus database version used by Kaspersky Scan Engine to scan objects. The name of the field is specified in DatabaseVersionICAPHeader.
