This section describes how to uninstall Kaspersky Scan Engine using the uninstall (Linux) and uninstall.exe (Windows).

Before uninstalling Kaspersky Scan Engine, make sure that files from the %service_dir% are not used by any processes.

To uninstall Kaspersky Scan Engine:

  1. Make sure you have root (administrator) privileges.
  2. Go to a directory other than %service_dir% and run uninstall from there, for example, from the command line.

    If there is a Kaspersky Scan Engine instance running on the computer, the uninstaller stops it.

  3. Choose whether to delete the database that contains Kaspersky Scan Engine data.

    The uninstaller skips this step if the Kaspersky Scan Engine instance you are deleting is part of a cluster containing other instances. You can delete the database when the last Kaspersky Scan Engine instance in the cluster is being deleted.

After this the uninstall removes the following objects:

  • The database that contains Kaspersky Scan Engine data (if you have chosen this)

    The PostgreSQL installation will not be removed, nor will the PostgreSQL database user account that you created during installation. Only the Kaspersky Scan Engine kavebase database will be removed. If you want to re-install Kaspersky Scan Engine, remove this database user account.

    To remove the database user account, run the following command:

    DROP ROLE "%account_name%";

    Here, %account_name% is the name of the database user account that you created during installation.

  • The directory to which Kaspersky Scan Engine is installed
  • The directory that contains temporary files used by Kaspersky Scan Engine
  • The Kaspersky Scan Engine service (from the list of services)
