During the installation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Linux File Servers, the resident protection module compiling process may terminate with an error, for the following reasons:

  • Header files required for the compilation of kernel modules are not installed. Install the lacking packages:
    • in Debian, Ubuntu and Linux Mint:
      $ sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`
    • in Red Hat and CentOS:
      $ sudo yum install kernel-headers-`uname -r` kernel-devel-`uname -r`
    • in Novell SLES and OES:
      $ sudo zypper in kernel-default-devel
    • in OpenSUSE:
      $ sudo zypper in kernel-devel
  • No packages responsible for the compilation of kernel modules are installed. Install the lacking packages:
    • in Debian, Ubuntu and Linux Mint:
      $ sudo apt-get install build-essential
    • in Red Hat and CentOS:
      $ sudo yum install gcc make
    • in Novell SLES, OES and OpenSUSE:
      $ sudo zypper in make gcc
  • The kernel version of the current operating system is not supported. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0.3.297 for Linux File Servers supports kernel versions up to 4.5. If you have a newer version, refer to Kaspersky Lab Technical Support.
