December 17, 2010 Kaspersky Lab announces the Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux File Server commercial release update. The version number remains the same – 8.0.0.136.

This update fixes the error with antivirus databases update task terminating with the “Anti-Virus database integrity check failed” error. You can fix this error one of the following ways:

1. Reinstall the application

Delete the kav4fs package. If you want to save the settings:

  • do no execute the /var/opt/kaspersky/kav4fs/cleanup.sh script if the Anti-Virus is installed on a Linux operating system;
  • do no execute the /var/db/kaspersky/kav4fs/cleanup.sh script if the Anti-Virus is installed on a FreeBSD operating system;
  • do not use the ‘-P | --purge’ option when deleting the .deb package of the application via the dpkg command.

After deleting the Anti-Virus, download a new distribution package from our servers and install it.

2. Use a patch

If you do not want to reinstall the Anti-Virus, you can apply a patch that fixes the mentioned error:

  • for systems with rpm packages manager:

download this patch and execute the following commands (with superuser rights):

# mv 1046.rpm.fixed /var/opt/kaspersky/apps/1046
# /opt/kaspersky/kav4fs/bin/kav4fs-control --restart-app

  • for systems with dpkg packages manager:

download this patch and execute the following commands (with superuser rights):

# mv 1046.deb.fixed /var/opt/kaspersky/apps/1046
# /opt/kaspersky/kav4fs/bin/kav4fs-control --restart-app

  • for FreeBSD:

download this patch and execute the following commands (with superuser rights):

# mv 1046.pkg.fixed /var/db/kaspersky/apps/1046
# /usr/local/bin/kav4fs/bin/kav4fs-control --restart-app
