Description

Windows Firewall stops working after installing a patch or an autopatch.

Reason

The installed Firewall component of Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows is disabled on a computer.

After installing a patch / autopatch, the computer should be restarted to apply the changes. Upon the system restart, Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows initializes the installed components. During initialization, the Firewall component becomes enabled, thus disabling Windows Firewall. After that, the application disables its Firewall component, according to the user-defined settings. Initialization is unnoticed by the user, and as a result Windows Firewall remains disabled.

This is a correct behavior of the application, related to the design of installation and patch/autopatch application mechanism.

Solution

As a solution, we recommend launching Windows Firewall via Windows group policies upon the system restart, if the installed Firewall component of Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows is disabled on a computer.

We also recommend installing the required components only.

You should install Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows without Firewall unless you are planning to use it.
