Updating the authentication scheme in Google Firebase Cloud Messaging

In June 2024, Google dropped support for two authentication schemes in the Google Firebase Cloud Messaging service.
If you use Google Firebase Cloud Messaging when managing Android devices, follow these steps until June 20, 2024 to keep delivering commands and policy changes via push notifications:
- Update the authentication data for Kaspersky Security for Mobile.
- If you use Kaspersky Security for Mobile as part of Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, EDR Optimum and other solutions, follow these instructions to update the KSC protocol.
If the update and patch are not installed, the delivery of commands and policy changes via push notifications will stop working.
Device synchronization will work using the KSC mobile protocol with a default synchronization period of every 6 hours. If required, you can change the synchronization period in the policy settings. For example, once in 15 minutes in Kaspersky Security for Mobile.

How to update the synchronization protocol with Android devices in KSC
- Check which database server is used on the Administration Server.
- For Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and earlier versions: move to a different database and follow step 2 from the current instructions.
Otherwise, you can wait for the release of a new KSC version that will use the new protocol, and update the application to this version. - For Microsoft SQL Server 2016, its newer versions, or other database servers: follow step 2 of the current instructions.
- For Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and earlier versions: move to a different database and follow step 2 from the current instructions.
- Check which version of KSC is installed.
- For KSC 14:
- Update the application to version 14.2 using these instructions.
- Submit a request to Kaspersky Technical Support through Kaspersky CompanyAccount and ask for the pf4 patch.
- Install the patch on the Administration Server and remote Administration Consoles. You do not need to install the patch on Network Agent.
- For KSC 14.2:
- Check whether the pf4 patch is installed using these instructions.
If the patch is installed, the synchronization will be performed correctly. No additional steps are required.
- Submit a request to Kaspersky Technical Support through Kaspersky CompanyAccount and request the pf4 patch.
- Install the patch on the Administration Server and remote Administration Consoles. You do not need to install the patch on Network Agent.
- Check whether the pf4 patch is installed using these instructions.
- For KSC 14:
How to check if the patch has been installed
- Open KSC.
- Go to Administration Server → Managed devices.
- Open the needed device.
- Go to Applications, select Kaspersky Security Center Network Agent and open its properties.
- In the General section, go to the Installed updates field and check which patches are installed.
If there is the pf4 value in the list (other patches may also be present), the pf4 patch has been installed.
