Issue

The Storage and Settings buttons are inactive for a Linux user in Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Linux.

Inactive “Storage” and “Settings” buttons in Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Linux.

Also, the user cannot execute control commands in CLI through kesl-control and gets the error: “Forbidden command: you do not have enough rights to execute '<command>' command”.

Cause

The current user is not assigned the administrator role in Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Linux. It can be assigned during initial setup of kesl-setup.pl on the Granting the Administrator role step. Perhaps the administrator role had been assigned but was revoked afterwards.

Solution

  1. Assign the administrator role to the required Linux user with the command:
    $ sudo kesl-control --grant-role admin <username>
  2. Unload the application interface and reopen it, or restart Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Linux using the command:
    $ sudo systemctl restart kesl
