Error "Active infection: Failed to install Kaspersky application. Your computer might be infected."

When installing a Kaspersky product, you may encounter an error caused by harmful software that is present on your computer. Such software can sometimes block installation of anti-virus programs.

Use Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool

The harmful software can be removed by running Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. To use the tool:

  1. Download Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool.
  2. Run Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. 

Use TDSSKiller

Rootkits can be removed by running TDSSKiller. To use the tool:

  1. Download TDSSKiller.
  2. Run the TDSSKiller.exe file on an infected or possibly infected computer.
  3. Wait for the tool to complete scanning and disinfection tasks.

Use Kaspersky Rescue Disk

In case it is not possible to disinfect the computer by using Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, use Kaspersky Rescue Disk. To start working with Kaspersky Rescue Disk:

  1. Download Kaspersky Rescue Disk.
  2. Record Kaspersky Rescue Disk to a CD/DVD or a USB drive and boot your computer from it.
