Verifying that client and server settings are applied

To verify that signing is required for the LDAP client and server:

1. On a computer with the AD DS Tools component installed, press Win+R, enter ldp.exe in the displayed window, and press Enter.
2. This opens a window; in the main menu of that window, select Connection → Connect.
3. In the Connect window, specify the following values:
   • In the Server field, enter the server name of the Active Directory domain controller.
   • In the Port field, enter a non-SSL/TLS port of the Active Directory domain controller server. The default value is 389.
4. Click OK.
5. When the connection is established, in the main menu, select Connection → Bind.
6. In the Bind window:
   1. Enter the user name and password.
   2. Under Bind type, select Simple bind.
   3. Click OK.

   The domain controller is successfully configured if the following error message is displayed:

   Ldap_simple_bind_s() failed: Strong Authentication Required
