Applications may work incorrectly when the sound is turned off on a computer or an app

The issue occurs under Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Redstone 1) or earlier on computers where a Kaspersky Lab application of one of the following versions is installed:

  • Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 / 2016
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2017 / 2016
  • Kaspersky Total Security 2017 / 2016

If you disable audio in an application or in the operating system, the following errors can occur:

  • Skype does not respond for 10-30 seconds.
  • Video from the webcam cannot be recorded.
  • Recording audio with Voice Recorder is unavailable.

To fix the issue, restart the Windows Audio service or reboot the computer.
