Proxy server setting s overview
The following proxy server settings are available:
- Use proxy server: select whether the application should use a proxy server for Internet connections.
- Automatically detect proxy server settings: the application will detect proxy server settings automatically using WPAD (Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Protocol). If no proxy IP address or port is detected over the WPAD protocol, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows will use proxy server settings specified in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- Use specified proxy server address and port: the application will use the proxy server settings specified below in the Address and Port fields.
- Address: The field where you can enter a proxy server IP address or DNS name. The field is active if Use specified proxy server address and port is selected.
- Port: The field for entering a proxy server port number. The field is active if Use specified proxy server address and port is selected. Port 80 is used by default.
- Set user name and password for authentication: the option enables or disables the use of proxy server authentication data. If it is enabled, the application first attempts a NTLM and then BASIC authentication on the proxy server using the account specified in the User name and Password fields. If the option is disabled or there is no user account data specified, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows attempts a NTLM authentication using the account that runs a task (for example, an update task).
If a proxy server requires authentication, and a user name and a password are specified incorrectly or not specified, a dialog window appears.
If the authentication is successful, the application keeps the user name and password and applies them for next connections. Otherwise, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows keeps prompting to enter a user name and a password. The option is enabled by default.
- User name: The field where you can enter a user name for proxy authentication. The field is active if the option Set user name and password for authentication is enabled.
- Password: The field for entering the password. The field is active if the option Set user name and password for authentication is enabled.
- Bypass proxy server for local addresses: The option allows skipping the use of a proxy server when updating from a shared folder. The option is available if the Use proxy server option is enabled. Enabled by default.
