Riprep utility for preparing client computers for remote deployment

The riprep.exe utility is located in the Kaspersky Security Center installation folder on the device running the Administration Server. The default path is C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Security Center\. 

Running the Riprep utility

 
 
 
 

The riprep utility is designed to prepare client computers for remote deployment. Using the utility, it’s possible to quickly perform the operations necessary for performing a remote delpoyment.

The riprep utility allows you to:

  • Disable Simple File Sharing. This parameter is not available for Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008. 
  • Run the Server service.
  • Create an account that has all the necessary privileges to run a remote deployment.
  • Disable User Account Control (UAC). This parameter is only available for Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008. 
  • Open the ports necessary for deployment:
    • TCP 139, 445, 13000, 14000, 18000
    • UDP 137, 138, 13000

The riprep utility doesn’t work on Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.

The utility should be run on the client computer on which you want to perform the above-listed operations under the client computer’s local administrator account. 

The utility can be run in two modes:

  • Through the graphical interface (GUI)
