Issue

When installing the Administration Server on a compressed drive, an error may occur during the database creation which does not allow the installation to complete.

Error example: “Error has occurred while installing: Generic db error: "5118 'The file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.KAV\MSSQL\DATA\KAV.mdf" is compressed but does not reside in a read-only database or filegroup. The file must be decompressed.{42000};’ LastStatement='IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT name FROM master.dbo.sysdatabases WHERE name = 'KAV') CREATE DATABASE [KAV];'".”

Error when creating a database during the installation of the Administration Server.

Solution

  1. Stop the SQL Server service.
  2. Open the properties of the folder with the database files.
    For example: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\DATA\
  3. Open the General tab and click Advanced in the Attributes section.
  4. Clear the Compress contents to save disk space checkbox.
  5. Click OK in the current and next windows.
  6. Start the SQL Server service.
  7. Reinstall the Administration Server.
